In this video from Live Fit Magazine’s Physically Fit Tips, after a powerful workout your body needs a good, healthy meal right away. Whole foods like a salad can be good but not necessarily immediately following a workout. They can be slow to digest. Your body needs fuel ASAP (preferably within 30 minutes of your post workout). I usually drink a green nutrient-rich shake within minutes of completing my workout.
There are many different types of protein drinks so find out which one works best for your body by experimenting. Many choose whey because it’s easy to digest and contains a high amount of protein. Also, with these shakes you’ll find we use natural sugar from fruit and the protein powder has very little sugar in it. If you’re dieting, be sure to cut the amount of fruit you add in to the shake (bananas are very high in sugar). Phoebe Chongchua shows us how to whip up a tasty protein shake.
