Couple Offers “Protection” on Halloween
It’s a sign of the times, an Oregon couple handed out condoms to teenagers, according to The Statesman Journal.
Daniel and Kathleen Harris of Silverton, Oregon, say they were doing their part to promote health. The couple also gives out toothbrushes and candy bars.
The gesture didn’t go over so well for one dad of a 14-year old girl who received a condom in her trick or treat bag. Daniel Cote told The Statesman Journal that it was “inappropriate”.
The couple says that they normally ask the age of the teen before giving the condoms. The couple usually only gives condoms to teens who are 16 and older along with a speech. As reported in The Statesman Journal, the couple’s reason for this 24-year-old Halloween practice is to “curb teen pregnancy and STDs”.
