For the first-time ever, U.S. News, with the help of 22 health experts, has ranked diets.

The panel of experts included nutritionists and specialists in diabetes, heart health, human behavior, and weight loss.

The panel was tasked with reviewing detailed assessments prepared by U.S. News of 20 diets and rating each diet in seven categories, including short- and long-term weight loss, ease of compliance, safety, and nutrition.
