Zadún: Luxury Resort That’s On Another Level

When it comes to travel, my word is: “Vamanos!” Yes, let’s go! Especially when I know that I’m headed to the famous and newly opened  (in 2019, shortly before the pandemic) Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Los Cabos Hotel set on the coast of San José del Cabo, Mexico.

This is the spot to get pampered. The service is impeccable. The resort is beautiful. The food is delicious. And relaxation is a top priority here. Everywhere you turn is a beautiful view, inviting you just to chill.

Zadún is a luxurious getaway that will leave you relaxed, energized, and never wanting to leave. When I stayed there in the summer of 2022, our neighbor on the property was Columbian singer, Shakira. She had a spacious beach-front compound at the resort for her family.

The resort is more than beautiful; its desert-meets-ocean kind of landscape is calming. The mood is tranquil. The Zadún staff is ready to help you get much needed downtime. You’ll have full-time butlers to help make your stay comfortable and fun. And, no short supply of sunshine (at least during the summer time months.)

We were there shortly after our June wedding as part of an extended honeymoon and my July birthday celebration. The staff didn’t miss a single opportunity to celebrate. They honored my birthday with balloons, cake, and banners. Then a few days into our trip, they changed the banners to a wedding celebratory message and drew the most romantic bath for me following a day at the spa. Oh, and they had a surprise for us at the spa too. Champagne and cute “just married” signage for us to sit beneath after our spa treatments.

There are many things to do at Zadún — including nothing but sitting oceanfront or by the pool. But, if working out, getting massages, taking culinary classes, hiking, or heading into the nearby town are more your speed — you’re in luck because all are possible.

John loved the lap pool and I hit the weights. Inside the gym, there are chilled towels to wipe your sweat and stay refreshed. The view is gorgeous so I found myself on the elliptical working off my previous meal while taking in the beautiful sight and day dreaming about my next one.

The Alkemia Spa is place for complete relaxation. You’ll find adorable sitting areas with fire pits,

Our arrival begins with a greeting at the airport from the friendly Zadún, staff. Jasmine was there to meet us the minute my husband, John, and I walked through Los Cabos International Airport in San Jose del Cabo.

If you’re worried about traveling to Mexico, having a staff member meet you at the airport is a nice touch. We felt safe and taken care of. We grabbed our first drinks at the outdoor airport bar and snapped a few pics to commemorate the beginning of our vacation/extended honeymoon.

Then we enjoyed a 40-minute scenic ride to the resort. When we arrived the tour begins. We meet our team of butlers and are carted around in a golf cart to see the sights of picturesque Zadún accompanied by a first freshly made margarita. Cheers!

Breakfast was one of my favorite parts of the day. I love breakfast at home, a hot cup of coffee, fruit and veggies, even salads. But here at Zadún, even more so. They offered a variety of traditional American and Mexican cuisine. I devoured the Machaca burritos and beans. They also had delicious green smoothies. I would grab one and sip on it by the pool!

At night, you can choose to walk to one of the three restaurants on the resort or have a driver pick you up in a golf cart for door-to-door service! Quite nice for those nights when I didn’t exactly wear the most comfortable heels.

Well done, Zadún! You’ve left an indelible mark on my heart. I can’t wait to return.

Humo is the fine-dining restaurant at Zadún. It’s delightful. Check out our post on it here.
